Region welcomes 11th annual Celebraciones de la Gente at the Museum of Northern Arizona

It was a weekend filled with music, entertainment, and, most importantly, reverence for those who have gone before us as Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces and the Museum of Northern Arizona partnered for the 11th annual Celebraciones de la Gente at the museum held from Oct. 24 through 26, 2014 The event included the return of the In Tlanextli Tlacopan Aztec Fire Dancers, Mariachi Sol Azteca de Tucson, Ballet Folklórico de Colores de Flagstaff, an artists mercado, lectures, food and activities for young people.

Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces supports Snowdrift Art Space’s Día de los Muertos Celebration in Winslow

While a strong breeze prevented the traditional procession and burning of the offerings to the dearly departed, it was not enough to dampen the spirits at the Snowdrift Art Space which presented its annual Día de los Muertos Celebration on Nov. 1, 2014 in Winslow. The event included performers from Winslow Ballet Folklorico, a sugar-skull workshop courtesy of Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces, plenty of food and drink and, of course, the display of ofrendas / altars honoring departed loved ones.

2014 ‘Celebraciones de la Gente — A Lively Celebration of Day of the Dead’ comes to a lively and successful conclusion
The Museum of Northern Arizona, in partnership with Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces, successfully presented the 11th annual “Celebraciones de la Gente” during the weekend of Oct. 24-26.

Tickets available for annual Celebraciones de la Gente raffle
Tickets ($10 each) are now available for the annual Celebraciones de la Gente raffle presented by Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces.
The raffle will be held on Sunday, Oct. 26 during the 11th annual Celebraciones de la Gente / Día de los Muertos festival at the Museum of Northern Arizona.
You do not need to be present to win.
Proceeds benefit annual cultural programs presented by Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces.

Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces will present an “Art Class @ Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church & Cultural Center” from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 at 224 S. Kendrick St., Flagstaff.
Artist Vangie Rodriguez will lead you in painting sugar skulls on canvas for your wall or Día de Los Muertos altars.
$25 gets you a 16×20 canvas, all art supplies.
Bring your own beverage. Snacks provided.

The Flagstaff First Friday Art Walk returns to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church & Cultural Center from 6:15 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at 224 S. Kendrick St., Flagstaff.
Visit the basement and see works by local ceramic artists Alma Aispuro & Irene Dominguez, painters Vangie Rodriguez & Franklin Willis and photographer Lara Gabrielsen.

First Friday Art Walk returns to Our Lady of Guadalupe Cultural Center

FLAGSTAFF — From ceramic cups, bowls and crosses, to colorful watercolor works featuring horses, visitors had a chance to experience a variety of art during the second Flagstaff First Friday Art Walk celebration held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church & Cultural Arts Center on June 6, 2014.
Ceramic artist Irene Dominguez of Plaza Vieja featured a wide variety of her works of art, during an event that also included the sale of hand-made rosaries by Alice Rosales, and a Recurdos history of Hispanic culture in Flagstaff program by Delia Muñoz of Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces.
